Mental Health = Brain Health

Having a healthy brain is not merely what we feed our bodies, but what we feed our mind! Strong mental health is key to being able to live a happy, healthy, “normal” life. When we have strong mental health, we are better equipped to handle life’s stressors and plot twists, to be the best version of ourselves. The following ideas are a good starting point for you to ensure you are feeding your mental health fuel for growth.

  • Value Yourself. Your body responds to the way you think, feel, and act. Thinking positively of yourself will assist you in feeling genuinely positive! When you value yourself, you set the bar for how you expect others to value you as well. Set standards, expectations, and barriers for how you talk to and about yourself. Healthy thoughts = healthy mind!
  • Mindfulness & Gratitude. Practicing gratitude and mindfulness plugs you into the parts of life we often take for granted. Not only do these practices help us appreciate more of life, they actually work to repair different parts of our cells!! Practicing mindfulness was found to extend the telomeres in our brains! Telomeres are the protective endings on our chromosomes, and over the course of our lives, they get worn down and cannot protect as well. Weak protection means cells can’t replenish and begin to malfunction, leading to aging and disease. Taking a break to slow down and be mindful & grateful can work wonders; talk about easy healing.
  • Run your day, or it will run you. Schedule your day with your goals. Write down what you want to accomplish for the day and get your pen ready to check it off as you go! It is easy to feel as though we do not achieve much in our day to day living, but at the end of each day, week, and month, you can look back and see how much you accomplished!

Planning creates mental calm. Schedule yourself in time to acknowledge your gratitude, practice self-care, and positivity, and list out your goals for the day. You’ll revel in the peace that you have determined a way to reach your goals, and you’ll get a little endorphin kick each time you check another goal off your list. Get your Goals and your Gratitude right, and be ready to schedule in your daily SIGNAL//OS™ when it’s released!
